HeyFiancé

Privacy Policy

Effective: October 24, 2026. Last updated: October 26, 2026.

The short version. HeyFiancé is run by Merakite LLC. We keep what you put in so you and your partner can plan together, and we use it for nothing else. We don't sell it, don't show ads, and don't run third-party tracking. Each wedding is private to the people in it. You can delete your account and your wedding whenever you like.

What we collect

We collect only what you give us and the minimum needed to run the service.

WhatExamplesWhere it comes fromWhy
AccountEmail, password (stored only as a one-way hash), display name, profile photoYouTo sign you in and show your partner who did what
Your weddingQuiz answers, decisions, tasks, budget, schedule, notesYou and the people in your weddingTo run the planner
Guests and vendorsNames, addresses, emails, phone numbers, RSVPs, dietary notes, quotesYouGuest list, headcount and vendor tracking
Files and imagesContracts, quotes, uploaded photos, images and links you saveYouThe moodboard and vendor files
PurchaseName, email, amount, date, and Stripe's reference for the paymentStripe, at checkoutTo unlock your wedding, send receipts and handle refunds
TechnicalIP address, browser and device type, pages requested, error logsYour browser, automaticallyTo keep the service running and secure

We never receive your full card number: Stripe handles it. When you paste a link to save, our server fetches that page to show a preview. The site you linked to sees a request from us, not from you.

The browser extension. If you install HeyFiancé for Chrome, it does one thing: when you choose "Save to HeyFiancé" (from the right-click menu or the toolbar button), it opens a HeyFiancé window and passes it the address of the picture or page you chose, and the page's title. It doesn't read, record or send anything about the pages you visit otherwise, it stores nothing itself, and it has no access to your account beyond opening that window. What you then save is handled like any other moodboard save.

Other people in your plans

Your guest and vendor lists hold details about people who haven't signed up. We store those details on your behalf, only so you can plan. We never contact your guests or vendors, add them to any mailing list, or use their details for anything else.

Please add only what you need to plan. If you're on someone's guest or vendor list and want your details removed, email admin@merakite.com. We'll pass the request to the couple, or remove the details ourselves where the law requires it.

How we use it

We use your information to:

We don't:

Who processes it for us

A few companies run parts of HeyFiancé for us. Each may use your information only to provide its service to us.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If Merakite LLC or HeyFiancé is sold or merged, your information would move with it, under this policy. These companies are in the United States. If you use HeyFiancé from elsewhere, your information is processed in the US.

Cookies

The app uses three cookies, all needed for it to work, and nothing else:

CookieWhat it's forHow long it lasts
Sign-in (sb-…-auth-token)Keeps you signed inUntil you sign out, or the session expires
Last wedding (hq_wedding)Opens the wedding you used last1 year
Signed in (hf_signed_in)Sends you from heyfiance.com straight to the app. It holds only "1", not your sign-inUntil you sign out, or 1 year

The first two are set only on app.heyfiance.com; the third is readable across heyfiance.com so the homepage can skip itself. There are no advertising, analytics or social media cookies in the app. Because they're strictly necessary, the app doesn't ask for consent.

How long we keep it, and how it's protected

Each wedding is walled off from every other one in the database itself, not just in the app. Files and photos are stored privately and shown only through short-lived links. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, and everything travels over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Email admin@merakite.com from the address on your account. We'll reply within 30 days and won't charge you. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

California. You have the rights above under the CCPA. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use sensitive personal information to infer things about you. Dietary notes on a guest list can count as health information. We use them only to show them to the people in your wedding.

EU and UK. We process your information to perform our contract with you, which covers running HeyFiancé and taking payment. We also rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, and on legal obligations such as tax records. You can complain to your local data protection authority. We'd like the chance to sort it out first.
